Hullo. How are you? I hope you are having a good day. I’m Mark and I’m walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats…
Today’s walk wasn’t really part of the plan. I had intended to make it to Balmaha yesterday, but couldn’t find anywhere to stay. So, I had the pleasure of a very short walk today of just five miles.
I left Drymen along the West Highland Way, which continues to give amazing views of both the mountains and Loch Lomond.
The weather was a complete change to yesterday – gone was the bright sunshine, replaced by a grey sky and heavy rain.
Much of the route between Drymen and Balmaha is along minor roads and tracks, but there was a short section through woods and farms.
Before long, the loch was in view and I was winding my way to its banks where Balmaha nestles.
I followed the road from Buchanan to my final destination, which this evening is not a hotel. For the first time on the trip I will be glamping!
Arriving into the village I found the place heaving with tourists, who flock here in their cars and tour buses to take boat cruises around Loch Lomond.
I found my camping pod and started the process of drying out.

Fundraising for MacMillan Cancer Support
As I walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, I am hoping to raise £10,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, who do such a wonderful job of supporting families through the most difficult times. If you are able to spare any amount and would like to donate to MacMillan, please do so through my Just Giving Page.
