Hullo. How are you? I hope you are having a good day. I’m Mark and I’m walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats…
I started the day by walking back into Camelford to pick up some supplies and then headed back up the hill towards the track opposite the hotel and off into countryside.
Climbing up to Davidstow Woods brought a different landscape to recent days – a vast open plateau, where once was an airfield and now a pine forest designated as open access land. This brought locals and those from further afield to wander the woods. Stealth motorhomes dotted the area and dog walkers braved the weather.
The woods made national news a couple of years ago when over 1000 people descended on them for a giant, illegal rave. I had forgotten things like this still happened!
With so much wet weather recently, the moorland was saturated, making for an interesting, splashy assault course to Trevivian.
By the time I reached St Clether, the weather had changed yet again. Being a coastal county, Cornwall really does have some of the most rapidly changing weather in England, which means having at hand an outfit for every eventuality!
The sun was beating down as I walked the next few miles and it felt almost like summer.
Passing through Laneast, I watched two young men attempting to hitch a trailer to a tractor in a scene that really should have had the Benny Hill theme tune playing in the background.
It was then across farmland to the perfect little village of Trewen.
Following a short walk up to Pipers Pool, it was then a case of a last couple to Trethorne Golf Club, where I checked into my room for the night.

Fundraising for MacMillan Cancer Support
As I walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, I am hoping to raise £10,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, who do such a wonderful job of supporting families through the most difficult times. If you are able to spare any amount and would like to donate to MacMillan, please do so through my Just Giving Page.
